Independent Assessments

Independent Assessments: In Home and on the Job Site

Active Healthcare Centre provides services for Health & Disability and Casualty Insurance industries throughout the Georgian Triangle.

As a healthcare company, we recognize that excellence begins by focusing on quality, integrity and innovation. Our expertise in providing rehabilitation solutions is strengthened by our vision to be the best in patient centered and evidence based care.

Our client centred approach enables effective communication and quick turnover of reports. We strive to perform assessment 7 days after booking and completed within 14 days of booking.

Our reports carry no degree of bias or incentive to refer a claimant for treatment. Rather, our reports provide an Objective Platform upon which a claims handler may base difficult decisions and help guide the course of action a case may or may not need to take.

Active Healthcare Centre has developed both a Worksite Analysis and In Home Assessment platform with the intention of providing an objective report of not only the activities required of an individual prior to having sustained an injury, but also those activities which the individual was able to perform.

In Home Assessments

An in-home assessment is conducted at an insurance claimant’s residence to identify pre-injury activities of daily living, including personal care, housekeeping, home maintenance, transportation and community management.

This assessment allows our assessors to evaluate the claimant’s ability to meet functional requirements and make recommendations related to safety concerns, home layout modifications, assistive devices or external assistance that may be required to help individuals re-engage in an independent and productive lifestyle.

Education and training may also be provided to encourage the claimant’s independence.

Job Site Analysis

Job site analysis provides an objective analysis of the physical demands required in the claimant’s work environment.

The analysis includes a comprehensive interview with the supervisor and a scientific assessment of the worker’s required activities.

This analysis provides comprehensive, detailed review of an individual’s work environment. The analysis documents the physical demands and requirements that individual must meet and the essential tasks that must be performed with respect to the applied work station(s).

The analysis includes but is not limited to:

  • The individual’s pre-accident schedule of employment.
  • Environmental conditions
  • Postural tolerance requirements
  • Strength requirements
  • Work Site Organization
  • Detailed interviews with the employee (if present) and supervisors
  • Digital photographs of the worksite

Following a workplace visit, our assessors will provide a comprehensive analysis and detailed report. This involves a quantitative and qualitative approach to analyzing an individual’s essential tasks and overall job functions.

This assessment report incorporates:

  • Physical/strength demands
  • Postural dynamics
  • Weight/height lifted/carried
  • Frequency of each movement/task
  • Risk factors

The final stage of this analysis involves determining ways to eliminate or control any risks that may have been identified. Ergonomically designed workplaces can help employees avoid pain and injuries that may arise from repetitive tasks.
